Living art

I fell in love with printing on transparency film.  It reminded me of all the old photos that i would show my dad when i would spend long afternoons with him.  His memory was fading just as the photos of long ago but the joy remained.

While researching archival properties on transparency film, I realized there was a 10-12 year shelf-life.  After almost scrapping my experimenting, a friend of mine said, “it’s Living Art”.  In that moment i realized life isn’t archival; it is a beautiful metamorphic gift.

These one of a kind Living Art pieces are layered with vintage antique writings. Some have been dipped in encaustic wax. Each piece has a “born on date” and secured in  acid free mat board.  Although they will fade over time, (how much, i don’t know) I would frame it with museum glass and hang out of direct sunlight.  As it grows old over time, enjoy the life it has to share with you.

50% of all proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause near and dear to my heart.
